We are seeking applicants (artists) to create new approaches for creative engagement and problem solving around various water topics that will help people understand and connect to water, build trust between different sectors and stakeholder groups and articulate neighborhood identity and narrative as it relates to Tucson Water and use of water resources past, present, and future. The selected applicant will utilize their knowledge and practice of art, culture, and creativity to work with a small team within Tucson Water’s Public Information and Conservation Office to create and implement a place-based community relationship building project designed to build agency and equity among partners and stakeholders such as residents, businesses, utility staff, and policy makers.

Organization: This project is in partnership with Tucson Water, a department of the City of Tucson and is a part of the US Water Alliance’s Water, Arts, and Culture Accelerator

Project Timeline: February - September 2021
Budget: US Water Alliance will provide $20,000 directly to a local artist or cultural contributor for participation in the project. Tucson Water will provide up to $20,000 for other expenses including materials, documentation, outreach, etc.
