Cherrybell Gets Reprieve

TUCSON'S MAIN POST OFFICE GETS REPRIEVE - The consolidation of the Tucson Cherrybell postal processing center to Phoenix has been postponed from July 11 to next year. If the consolidation goes through as planned, the only postal functions left at the Tucson facility would be P.O. boxes and retail services. Meanwhile, two surveys - one for businesses and one for the community - are online to gauge reaction to consolidation. The findings will be passed on to U.S. Rep. Martha McSally and other congressional representatives to be presented to U.S. Postmaster General Megan Brennan, said Tucson Vice Mayor Richard Fimbres. The ultimate goal is to stop the consolidation, he said. The online surveys will be available through Saturday. Read more from the Arizona Daily Star.
