Mulcahy YMCA Holds 9th Annual Fundraising Event to Support Community Needs
Tucson, AZ, February 6, 2015 - The Mulcahy YMCA, one of five YMCA of Southern Arizona branches, is holding its annual fundraiser, Essence of Soul, on February 20, 2015 to ensure that everyone in the community has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
"So many people know the Y, but there is so much more to our Y than one may realize," said Letícia Luján, Executive Director, Mulcahy YMCA. "We are more than a gym. We are a cause. As a charitable organization we are dedicated to providing support to our community and ensuring no child is turned away due to the inability to pay. Our annual fundraiser, Essence of Soul, is crucial in these efforts."
This year, the Mulcahy YMCA hopes to raise $30,000! Funds raised will support program efforts and provide much needed financial support for children and families in economic distress to participate in Mulcahy YMCA programs.
The semi-formal dinner will take place on Friday, February 20, 2015, 6:00pm at the Mulcahy YMCA at Kino Community Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way. Join the Y for an evening filled with delicious soul food and music, dance and poetry readings performed by YMCA & local youth in honor of African American History month.
The Essence of Soul is a celebration in which supporters gather together to enjoy traditional soul food and entertainment, and help strengthen the foundation of our community. For tickets visit https://tucsonymca.org/event/essence-of-soul/.
