We would appreciate your help in making sure that the Office of Integrated Planning, Neighborhood Resources has your most current bylaws. To check, please go to the City's Neighborhood Resources webpage at
https://www.tucsonaz.gov/pdsd/neighborhood-resources. Then go to "Neighborhood Related Links" and click on Neighborhood Associations and Maps. A box will appear in which you select your neighborhood. Upon selecting your neighborhood, information will appear showing such items as the Neighborhood Association boundaries, Neighborhood Association officers, etc. If you scroll down to the bottom, you should see the "Bylaws" link. Open the link, and check that the bylaws shown are the most recent.
If the bylaws posted are not the most current, please forward the most current bylaws by Monday, February 2, 2015. If you cannot get the bylaws to us by then, please let us know when we should expect them. Also, please provide the minutes for the meeting at which the general membership approved the amendments.
Please note that posting of bylaws on the City's website does not make bylaws official per se, but Registration Guidelines adopted by Mayor and Council on July 6, 1992, and posted on the Neighborhood Resources page under "Registration, Policies, and Procedures," Item E., do say that "Charter and bylaws of the association must be signed by at least two (2) officers, dated and forwarded to OIP within ten (10) days following the meeting at which they were approved and adopted by the association. The minutes for the meeting at which the general membership approved bylaws or amendments need to be on file at OIP. [Emphasis added.]
This and other provisions are to be followed by Neighborhood Associations that are interested in being a registered association with the City and use services provided to neighborhoods by the City. Neighborhoods for whom registration and services are not important may choose to organize in other ways.
We know that some new officers may be unaware of these provisions, and seasoned officers may find this reminder useful.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
