Pima Animal Care Center to host 3-day free adoption event

$4,000 grant allows Pima Animal Care Center to host 3-day free adoption event

Pima Animal Care Center has received a $4,000 grant from PetSmart Charities® and will use the money to host a three-day adoption event Jan. 2-4, 2015. The shelter’s goal is to place 200 dogs and cats into homes during the three-day New Year, New Friend Adoption Party event, and the PetSmart Charities grant makes it possible to have all adoption fees waived during the event.

The shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, will be open for adoptions from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, and Sunday, Jan. 4. Adopters who get their pet at the shelter location will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with their new family member and, while supplies last, be able to take home a printed photo.

Additionally, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 4, PACC staff will have adoptable dogs and cats at the PetSmart store located on the southeast corner of Oracle and Wetmore roads, and these animals also will have no adoption fees assessed. A standard $15 licensing fee applies to all adult dogs.

“We’re so grateful our friends from PetSmart Charities in Phoenix are helping us once again,” said Pima Animal Care Center’s Chief of Operations Kristin Barney. “We continue to be very over-crowded, and we very much need grants like this to help us place our pets in loving homes.”
