On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve pavement conditions on Speedway Boulevard from Greasewood Road to Silverbell Road. Crews will begin the project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, November 7, 2014.
Crews will return to this section of Speedway Boulevard on Monday, November 10, 2014 to begin milling (removing asphalt) and paving operations. The milling and paving work is scheduled to be complete on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Work hours for the milling and paving work will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
When crews install the temporary striping on Speedway Boulevard the new travel lane configuration from Greasewood Road to Silverbell Road will be one eastbound and one westbound lane in each direction with a continuous center turn lane.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Residential access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
