Road Work Update

SIXTH AVENUE AND TOOLE AVENUE
INTERSECTION CLOSURE

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract
with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will be installing
underground conduit for the installation of new and permanent traffic
signals at Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue.

This work will require the closure of the Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue
intersection from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., including the Sixth Avenue
Underpass, on the following nights:

Wednesday, January 14, 2015
Thursday, January 15, 2015
Monday, January 19, 2015
Tuesday, January 20, 2015
Wednesday, January 21, 2015

The above work is part of a project to finalize the two-way conversion
of Sixth Avenue from Seventh Street to Broadway. The work includes new
traffic signals, sidewalks and ADA accessible ramps at the intersections
of Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue, and Sixth Avenue and Pennington
Street, new pavement, new striping and new signage along Sixth Avenue
from Toole Avenue to Broadway. The project is being funded by the
Federal Transit Administration.

Crews are working Monday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to
minimize the impact to the traveling public. Construction is scheduled
to be complete in late March 2015. Temporary travel lane restrictions
may be in place during the work. 

Access to adjacent businesses and the Ronstadt Transit Center will be
maintained throughout the project. 
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling and
walking in the work area.  Please obey all traffic control signs and
watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

CAMPBELL AVENUE – BROADWAY TO THIRD STREET 
RESURFACING PROJECT

UPDATED SCHEDULE 

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract
with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are
scheduled to complete the milling (removing asphalt) and repaving work
on Campbell Avenue from Broadway to Third Street during the week of
Monday, January 19, 2015.

Crews will mill the roadway on Monday, January 19, 2015 and repave
Campbell Avenue on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 and Wednesday January 21,
2015. To minimize impacts to the adjacent residents, work hours will be
7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Once the paving work is complete, crews will begin utility adjustments
by raising the manhole covers and water main covers flush with the new
asphalt. The utility adjustments will begin Monday, January 26, 2015 and
are scheduled to be complete on Thursday February 5, 2015. Crews will
work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this work,
concrete must cure for 24 hours prior to reopening a travel lane to
motor vehicles. 

This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million,
five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery
program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during
the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a
driveway.  At least two lanes of travel in each direction will be
maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and
watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The
schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement
weather.
