Motorists traveling on State Route 86 west of Tucson will encounter lane restrictions on Saturday while the Arizona Department of Transportation paves the westbound shoulder of the highway on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
A four-mile closure will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 on SR 86 (Ajo Way) west of the junction with State Route 386, which leads to Kitt Peak.
A pilot vehicle will escort traffic in both directions while the two-lane highway is reduced to a single lane between mileposts 133 and 137. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.
The work is part of a $17 million project to improve an eight-mile segment of SR 86.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
