The City of Tucson’s Immigrant Welcoming Task Force, in conjunction
with la Coalición de Derechos Humanos and the Tucson Immigrant
Workers’ Project, is hosting a Community Forum on Immigrant Women
Workers on Monday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., in the Sam Lena Library, 1607 S.
6th Avenue.
The forum will include a presentation of “Out of the Shadows:
Shedding Light on the Working Conditions of Immigrant Women in
Tucson,” a report by the Bacon Immigration Law and Policy Program
and the Southwest Institute for Research on Women. In addition, a panel
of women workers, community advocates, and other stakeholders will be
present to discuss current working conditions and policy solutions.
"The work of the task force will help us as a community to strengthen
our efforts on behalf of all of our residents,” said Ward 3 Council
Member Karin Uhlich. “The report will be of interest to many as we
move ahead."
