ROAD RECOVERY BOND PROGRAM VALENCIA ROAD – 12TH AVENUE TO CAMPBELL AVENUE ROADWAY RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

 

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of

Transportation (TDOT), are beginning roadway improvements on Valencia Road from 12th Avenue east to

Campbell Avenue. This roadway reconstruction project is associated with the voter-approved $100 million, fiveyear

street bond program – Road Recovery.

To expedite the work, crews will work both daytime and nighttime hours, Monday through Friday, with

More than fifty people turned out Thursday, January 26, for the Water Harvesting Dedication and Tree Naming Ceremony at the Ward 5 office.

 

Four trees were planted in the courtyard at the Ward 5 office in honor of the four living individuals who serve and have served as the Ward 5 Councilmember: Rudy Castro, Roy Laos, Steve Leal and Richard Fimbres.

 

VALENCIA ROAD WORK ONGOING, PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED BY MID-FEBRUARY

 

TUCSON – Road work and repair along Valencia Road, from 12th Avenue to Alvernon Way is in progress.

 

The road work and repair came thanks to lobbying from Tucson Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres.

 

Crews have been installing underground electrical conduit, lowering manhole covers and water valve covers and will followed by milling (removing asphalt) and repaving.

Lin’s Grand Buffett had its formal grand opening on January 13.  Lin’s is located at the Bridges in Ward 5.

 

I want to thank the more than 400 who turned out for the opening, which included Councilmember Shirley Scott and her staff.

 

Eighty local people were hired at Lin’s.  I want to congratulate Frank Lam of Lin’s and the Manager, Juan Rivera for a successful grand opening of Lin’s in Ward 5.

 

 

FEMA BLANKETS ARRIVE TOMORROW

 

TUCSON – U.S. Representative Martha McSally and Tucson Councilmember Richard Fimbres will be on hand tomorrow for the delivery of 46 pallets of blankets arriving in Tucson for homeless individuals. The more than 11,000 blankets, which are being delivered through the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Homeless Blanket Program, originally were not expected to arrive until mid to late January. Following calls from community leaders for the blankets to arrive sooner, Rep. McSally intervened with the DOD to expedite delivery.

U.S. Rep. McSally’s Office Expedites Blanket Delivery to Tucson

TUCSON – With temperatures falling and a widespread freeze expected Sunday, the Office of U.S. Representative Martha McSally has taken action to expedite the delivery of blankets to Tucson. The 10,000 blankets are being delivered through the Homeless Blanket Program, a congressionally funded program administered by the Department of Defense. The blankets were originally not scheduled to arrive in Tucson until middle to late January.

El Tour Headquarters is officially releasing the 12 important facts about the 2016 Tucson Medical Center El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino Del Sol Resort scheduled for this Saturday, November 19th. Spread the word!!!!

  2. Expecting over 7,000 cyclists riding in these events: 106, 76, 54, 37 & 28-mile events, Fun Ride of 11, 5 & ¼-miles plus over 3,000 Indoor El Tour Cyclists.

Help Plan Tucson’s Future - Town Hall November 21

As part of an ongoing discussion regarding Tucson’s future, the City of Tucson is holding a series of town halls where the public can get information and have questions answered about a possible sales tax question that could go to City voters in May 2017.

USPS Committee Chairman tours the Cherrybell Post Office and Processing Center and Takes Part at Roundtable at the Ward 5 Council Office

TUCSON – U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina, the Chair of the House Subcommittee overseeing the Postal Service, toured the Cherrybell Post Office and Processing Center and took part in a roundtable meeting of stakeholders at the Tucson’s Ward 5 Council Office.

 

Rep. Meadows was invited to Tucson by U.S. Rep. Martha McSally (AZ- CD 2), who has worked closely with Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres, for which the Cherrybell Post Office and Processing Center is located in his Ward.

 

SECOND ANNUAL MASH FREE SPAY NEUTER EVENT A SUCCESS

Tucson – More than 450 dogs and cats were spayed/neutered at the Second Annual MASH Free Spay
Neuter Event held October 7-9 at Los Ranchitos School. This event was a collaboration of animal
welfare organizations, interested individuals and local businesses and government working together
to provide this amazing gift to our community. All surgeries and vaccinations were free to anyone
that decides to have their pets altered. Skilled, licensed veterinarians from all over the state and
