Pima Animal Care Center has a record number of adoptable kittens, more than 100, and about 200 adoptable cats. The cat room is crowded and to help make room, PACC is waiving adoption fees (normally $30) in exchange for donations from the center’s wish list valued at $10 or more.

Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day, a day for remembering the men and women who fought bravely and died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Originally, known as Decoration Day, the holiday originated in the years following the Civil Ware and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will be sealcoating several Tucson roadways over the next two months as part of the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery.

The Sun Link Tucson Streetcar received two awards from the American Public Works Association.
The project was awarded the Public Works Project of the Year and the project management for Joe Chase of TDOT.

The Southern Arizona Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) announced today that the Sun Link Tucson Streetcar Project has been named the Public Works Project of the Year.
The $196 million project, co-managed by the City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), is expected to launch service July 25, 2014.
In honor of Arbor Day, Arizona State Forester Scott Hunt announced that Tucson is one of 25 Arizona communities to receive the 2013 Tree City USA recognition. This marks the 22nd consecutive year that Tucson has received the award from the Arbor Day Foundation program.
Reid Park Zoo is proud to announce that it was recently granted
accreditation by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). Reid Park
Zoo underwent a thorough review and inspection in January, demonstrating
the Zoo meets or exceeds professional standards for excellence in animal
care, veterinary programs, conservation, education, and safety. In late
March, Reid Park Zoo officials traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for a
hearing by AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission.
The City of Tucson’s Fleet Services Division ranked 15th on the 2014
list of Top 100 Best Fleets in North America by the 100 Best Fleets
Program. The award program recognizes and rewards peak performing public
sector fleet operations in North America. The Fleet Services Division
operates the City’s motor pool by providing maintenance and repair to
police cruisers, garbage trucks, and other vehicles.
