Glass recycling made simple
When using Tucson’s purple bins, only clean glass bottles and jars belong inside. That includes things like beverage bottles, food jars, and similar containers.
Before you drop them off:
✔ Remove all caps and lids
✔ Give items a quick rinse they should be clean and dry
✔ Labels are okay
Skip items like glass cups, mirrors, decorative glass, broken shards, and small perfume bottles these can contaminate the recycling process Recycling the right way helps turn your glass into new materials and keeps contamination low. Small steps make a big difference!
Putting glass in your blue bin will get recycled however, we encourage to use the purple glass bins to help the city recieve the most revenue for the clean glass product and save money on shipping glass! This glass is taken to a local AZ vendor and Republic Services takes their glass to California.
