  • Medical Insurance
    • Three plans: two high deductible health plan options (with HRA or HSA) and one HMO
    • Generous employer contributions toward rates
    • HRA and HSA include additional employer funding to help pay for out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles and coinsurance
    • HSA participants may make additional pre-tax contributions to their HSA bank accounts
  • Dental Insurance
    • Two plans: An HMO and a PPO

  • Life Insurance
    • City-paid Basic coverage equal to annual salary rounded up to the nearest thousandth (maximum of $50,000)
    • City-paid Basic coverage for eligible spouses and children equal to $5,000 for dependents age 6 months and older
    • Employee-paid Supplemental coverage based on salary (maximum of $300,000)
    • Employee-paid Spouse coverage (maximum of $22,500)
  • Long Term Disability
    • City provides base coverage of up to 60% of base salary to maximum benefit of $4,000 per month for up to five years (6 month elimination period)
    • Buy-up coverage (employee-paid) pays 60% of salary to maximum of $6,000 per month up to age 65 (90 day elimination period)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
    • Pre-tax, flexible spending accounts for health care and/or dependent care expenses
  • Voluntary Insurance
    • Supplemental Voluntary Insurance Products (employee-paid): Disability, life and accident and illness

    • Provides counseling free to employees and dependents
    • Up to three face-to-face sessions per occurrence per year

  • Worker’s Compensation
    • Benefit rate is equal to 2/3 of the employee’s average monthly wage up to a monthly maximum salary of $2400 per month defined by law
  • Pension
    • City of Tucson Supplemental Retirement System is a defined benefit pension plan for civilian employees (not commissioned Police or Fire)
    • Public Safety Personnel Retirement System offers retirement options for commissioned Police and Fire personnel
  • Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan
    • The City of Tucson offers a variety of ways employees may save for retirement
  • Tuition Reimbursement
    • Up to $5,250 or 30 credit hours (whichever occurs first) per year to help offset the cost of continuing education
