In accordance with Tucson City Code 21-2, Balboa Heights Park is designated as a “Kids Zone” and is closed to the public by order of the Director of Parks and Recreation during open hours of the Marty Birdman Center, as posted on the center entrance. Youth ages 14 and under are allowed, along with any parent or guardian supervision. **Exceptions to this closure include community-wide events and programs, and permitted park reservations.
Open April 1-October 31 Daily 8 a.m. to sunset.
As a resident of Balboa Heights for more than 40 years, Naida Jane Baker has been an unwavering advocate for children and families in the area. Ms. Baker worked with the Ward 3 staff and the Friends of Marty Birdman Center to advocate for and to receive funding for building the splash pad in Balboa Heights Park. Ms. Baker received the Jefferson Award, a national honor for individuals who demonstrate the highest ideals and achievements in public service, and she served as the Balboa Heights Neighborhood Association President for more than 20 years.
