Improvements coming to the park!

Thanks to Tucson Delivers Proposition 407 bond funding, Mitchell Park will soon receive an updated irrigation system, rainwater harvesting gardens, and more shade to provide cooling respite for birthday parties, family picnics, and more.

Parks and Recreation attended the Mitchell Park Neighborhood Association meeting on December 7, 2024, to introduce the project and solicit feedback on proposed improvements. Following the meeting, Parks and Recreation circulated an online survey from January 6-26, 2025, to learn more about community preferences. 95 community members participated in the survey, and we heard that residents would most like to see a smaller, ocotillo-style ramada like the ones at Rio Vista Park and that the picnic table closest to the play equipment (picnic table C) is the most important to shade with a ramada. We also heard that many of you have concerns about the condition of the turf and are interested in assisting with future planting at the park.

What do you think of the proposed design?

Parks and Recreation used the feedback shared by the community to develop a new concept plan for Mitchell Park, and we’d love to know what you think of it! Please take a few minutes to review the video walk-through and concept plan posted below, then take the online survey to share your feedback.
