Facility Code of Conduct

Tucson Park Recreation is committed to enrich our community through inclusive, innovative, fun programs, and safe, beautiful, sustainable places. We strive to provide a safe, positive, and respectful environment. Participants and their families and friends are expected to follow the Rules for Play and Code of Conduct below, as well as all applicable City rules and
regulations.

Immediately report to staff any uncomfortable or threatening situations you or your child may experience while participating in our programs or facilities. Department staff will make every
effort to promptly resolve any inappropriate behavior.

Rules for Play

  • Listen and follow directions given by staff.
  • Be a good sport.
  • Be attentive.
  • Be courteous and respectful.
  • Leave valuables at home.
  • Respect the property of others and care for the facility and equipment.
  • No food or drinks, except water in a closed container.
  • Wear appropriate athletic shoes on sports courts
  • Dunking is allowed during basketball games; no hanging on the rims.

What Is Not Acceptable

  • Vandalism, stealing, littering, or damaging government or personal property. Law enforcement will be notified.
  • Consumption, possession, or distribution of drugs or alcohol.
  • Use of tobacco products, smoking, or vaping in facilities. Must be 20 ft. from entrance.
  • Failure to cooperate with staff.
  • Any unlawful activity.
  • Swearing, inappropriate, or abusive language and verbal threats.
  • Physical violence, roughhousing, and fighting.
  • Lewd, obscene, or indecent conduct or expression.
  • Sexual harassment or misconduct and inappropriate displays of affection.
  • Unauthorized commercial activity – no person is allowed to post, advertise, instruct in private lessons, or solicit individuals in the facility for personal services for personal businesses.
  • No sleeping or lying down on floors or furniture.
  • No bathing or washing clothes in facility sinks.
  • Skateboards, bikes, inline skates, and wheeled shoes.
  • Failure to follow City of Tucson Parks and Recreation rules.

Other Important Information

  • Daily fee or membership required to access center amenities.
  • Individuals must be 7 years or older to be in the facility, unless accompanied by an adult.
  • Times available in the center change for the summer.
  • All persons must be able to function independently or with an attending personal caregiver.
  • Personal hygiene and proper manner of dress, including shirt and shoes are required.
  • Service dogs (only) are permitted.
  • Patrons are responsible for their personal belongings. Staff is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
  • Personal music or video games are not allowed to be played so others can hear them.
  • All equipment (pool accessories, balls, and racquets) will be checked out to participants.
  • Soliciting or monetary collection for any cause or use will not be made in the center without prior written approval.
  • Staff approval must be obtained before taking photos or videos.
  • City phones are available for emergency use only.

What are the consequences?

If you violate the rules, this is what will happen. If you are under the age of 18, we will notify your parent/guardian for Level 3 and 4.

  • Level 1: Verbal Counseling
  • Level 2: Temporary suspension/loss of privileges
  • Level 3: Suspension from the Tucson Park Recreation Center(s) and programs (time dependent on severity of incident)
  • Level 4: Expulsion from City Recreation facilities and programs

The Supervisor has the right to modify the suspension depending on the infraction. In some instances, a meeting must be arranged with the facility supervisor prior to returning. No refunds for forfeited privileges will be made.
