Final Paving Planned for Grant Rd Phase 3 & 4
Published on August 27, 2026
Final paving work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 31, within the Grant Road Phase 3 & 4 project limits, as the roadway project moves closer to completion. The work is expected to last through Friday, Sept. 11. The traveling public should expect lane restrictions, traffic shifts, and temporary driveway access limits.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday, Aug. 31: Inside lanes from Elaine Blvd. to Sparkman Blvd.
Tuesday, Sept. 1: Outside lanes from Elaine Blvd. to Sparkman Blvd.
Wednesday, Sept. 2 - Friday, Sept. 4: Inside lanes from Sycamore Blvd. to Swan Rd
Tuesday, Sept. 8 - Friday, Sept. 11: Outside lanes from Sycamore Blvd. to Swan Rd
A temporary closure is also planned at the Grant Road and Alvernon Way intersection from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, through approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12., limiting north-south travel from Glenn Street to Pima Street. Businesses near the intersection will remain accessible from Grant Road. Residents within the paving limits will continue to have access to their homes, although short delays may occur. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution when travelling through construction zones. Crews will use the closure to complete final paving on Alvernon Way and the remaining portions of Grant Road within the project limits.
Phase 3 & 4 of the Grant Road Improvement Project is on track for completion in October 2026. Following final paving, crews will complete remaining work, including landscaping east of Alvernon Way, pavement markings, power connections for crossing signals and streetlights, and other miscellaneous items. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
