Doris J. Thompson

On Jan. 22, 2025, the Mayor and City Council voted to approve the name change of Mansfield Park to Doris J. Thompson Park, in honor of Doris Thompson’s significant contributions to the Sugar Hill Neighborhood for several decades and in particular her fierce advocacy that led to establishing the original recreation center at the park, the Northwest Center, now named the Donna Liggins Center. She also organized daily activities and mentored countless youth.
