Temporary Workzone Traffic Management Program
Related to DTM's ROW Permitting Process
DTM governs all work in the City of Tucson Right-of-Way (ROW), including any traffic restrictions. The Program is intended to enhance the planning, application, and oversight of traffic control management in temporary work areas in roadways, bike routes, sidewalks, and transit zones. All temporary Traffic Control Barricading within City of Tucson ROW shall comply with the latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Arizona supplement to the MUTCD and the City of Tucson Additions to the MUTCD.
DTM notification and approval is required, except in emergencies, before closing or barricading any street in the ROW, or portion thereof. As part of the program, the ROW permitting process requires an approved Traffic Control Plan (TCP) for any restrictions in the public ROW including alleys, local streets, collector streets and arterial streets.
In all cases concerning traffic control, the Traffic Engineer shall be the final authority with regard to barricading, channelization, hours of work, and compliance with other Traffic Engineering procedures and regulations.

Mobile Storage Permitting
When a refuse collector or mobile storage unit is placed on City of Tucson rights-of-way, a City of Tucson Traffic Control Permit is required. City of Tucson right-of-way typically consists of the roadway, sidewalk easement (paved or unpaved) and alley (where access to alleyway is restricted).

Holiday Restrictions
Due to the ever-increasing traffic volume on many of the City's roads, it is necessary to restrict lane closures on certain roads during the holiday season. These restrictions will be in place from Thanksgiving to one day after New Years. Please see the Holiday Street Restrictions(PDF, 173KB) for a list of locations.
