Published on January 08, 2025
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero delivered her annual Report to Tucsonans on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Tucson Convention Center.
She shared past successes and looked to the future, talking about a half-cent sales tax ballot question that will appear before Tucson voters on Tuesday, March 11. The Proposition 414 "Safe & Vibrant City" tax plan would fund five areas: Affordable Housing & Shelter, Neighborhood & Community Resilience, Enhanced Emergency Response, Technology Investments, and Capital Investments for First Responders.
"It is important to acknowledge the challenges Tucson and cities around the world are facing: a housing crisis, a climate crisis, an opioid and fentanyl crisis, the growing number of unsheltered individuals, and aging infrastructure," Romero said. "It is also important that we acknowledge what is working, and what we should continue investing in."
The mayor also spoke about economic development, future polices and investments, crime prevention, and more.
