Don’t throw batteries into the trash or recycling bin, unless they are alkaline batteries. Bring your batteries to our main location at Los Reales or attend one of the city's monthly drop-off events held the second Saturday of each month.
Fires caused by lithium-ion batteries have dramatically risen in the United States. These rechargeable batteries are found in electric bikes, mopeds, and scooters. Damaged or unstable batteries and improper charging, storage, and disposal can cause batteries to overheat, leading to an explosive, aggressive fire that rapidly spreads. These fires are also challenging to extinguish and can reignite. Call 911 if your battery starts to smoke or catches fire.
