TRIM WEEDS & GRASS

Tall weeds and grass at your property can trigger allergies and respiratory problems plus harbor rodents and other pests. Trim weeds or grass below 6 inches high. You’re also responsible for maintaining the height of weeds and grass in areas next to your property: sidewalks, street easements, and one half of the width of the alley.

LIMIT OR SCREEN OUTSIDE STORAGE

Keep your property looking tidy by complying with these outside storage guidelines:

  • No front yard storage – store items only in the back or side yards
  • Limit storage of a maximum of 25% of your total lot size
  • Screen storage items in an enclosed structure or with a solid, nontransparent wall or fence that’s a minimum of 5 feet high.

STORE & SCREEN JUNK VEHICLES

A motor vehicle, trailer, or camper shell that meets one or more of these seven conditions is defined as a junk or inoperable vehicle: wrecked, dismantled, abandoned, doesn’t operate, scrapped, stripped, cannot be safely operated.

A junked vehicle is permitted to be stored and screened on a property if:

  • It’s stored in a garage/permanent building made of nontransparent materials
  • It’s stored in a carport with a nontransparent car cover designed for that purpose and that covers the vehicle. (No tarps. No bed sheets.)
  • It’s stored behind a “legal” barrier that completely surrounds the vehicle. A legal barrier – such as a fence or wall – must be at least 5 feet high, constructed of nontransparent material with no holes or gaps, and properly anchored.

TRIM ENCROACHING PLANTS

Low hanging tree branches, encroaching cacti, and large brushes can be a safety hazard for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. You’re responsible for trimming any vegetation on your property that grows into the public right of way such as the sidewalk, street, or alley.

STOP ILLEGAL DUMPING

It’s illegal to dispose of junk, litter, debris, or trash in unauthorized places on public property and even private property such as a yard, streets, alley, easements, or washes.

Help keep Tucson free of illegal dumping:

  • Use Brush & Bulky to dispose of materials,
  • Keep refuse in an approved on-site container, and
  • Report illegal dumping.
