The summer sun is dangerous for people who are outside for long periods of time. Visit a cooling station for a place to get out of the sun and cool off.

Summer Heat Safety Tips

  1. Plan your day. Avoid going out during the peak heat hours and wear sunscreen.
  2. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and bring a reusable water bottle with you when you leave the house.
  3. Dress accordingly. Bring a hat or umbrella with you when you leave the house. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothes.
  4. Check in on your neighbors. People may be more at risk during the heat, such as older adults, people who are pregnant or sick, or children.
  5. Beware of heat-related illness. Call 911 if you are experiencing high body temperature, vomiting, and pale or clammy skin.
  6. Hot cars can be deadly. Don't leave children or pets unattended in a car.
  7. Keep cool. Go to an airconditioned place, park, or pool.
