SCREENING

Our goal is to attract high-caliber talent to the City of Tucson, so we meticulously identify the most qualified applicants from our applicant pool who match our desired candidate profile. The ideal candidate profile can be found in the "Minimum Required Qualifications", “Additional Minimum Qualifications” and “Preferred Qualifications”, if any, sections of the job posting.

It is important to emphasize that meeting the required qualifications outlined in our job specifications, as detailed in the "Minimum Required Qualifications", and “Additional Minimum Qualifications” sections of the job posting, are crucial for advancing to the next stage of the recruitment process.

The applicants are screened by the Screening Panel and/or Human Resources and a SME (subject matter expert) who ultimately selects applicants for interview.

INTERVIEW AND/ OR ASSESMENT

We schedule interviews via phone calls, video conferences, and face-to-face meetings to accommodate applicants. Recruitments can consist of interviews and/or assessments. These could be in person, online or via phone depending on the type of interview or assessment. All scheduling events will be visible in the candidate profile to sign up when these steps occur.

OFFER

Following the interview and or Assessment, the contingent job offer will be extended. This presents a wonderful opportunity for you to raise any further questions you may have before accepting the job offer.

To access the offer letter, you will need to log in to your Workday account HERE. In the 'my tasks' area you will be able to review the offer letter and formally choose to either Accept or Decline. Once you accept the contingent offer, we will proceed with conducting background and reference checks.

REFERENCE CHECK

The City of Tucson as an employer requests reference checks that can confirm the candidate’s skills, experience, and work history. It is to verify the information that the candidate has provided in their job application and describe the reference’s connection to the candidate’s ability to complete the essential job functions successfully which can help in making an informed hiring decision. Reference checks can be before or after an offer has been made.

BACKGROUND CHECK

Background Check is done once the contingent job offer is extended, and the candidate accepts the offer. These checks may include, but may not be limited to, (depending on the position): criminal background check, pre-employment medical testing, and a motor vehicle record check. Public Safety and other unique positions in the City have additional components of the background check.

HIRE

Prior to your hire date, we will be in touch to assist you regarding your onboarding process. You will expect to receive Workday notifications for your new hire tasks, this is to ensure your smooth start to your City of Tucson (COT) employment.
