About Kha Dang

The Garden District Neighborhood Association (GDNA) Board, in summer 20024, submitted an application to name the park property at 1933 N. Bell as "Kha Dang Park" to honor Kha Dang, a long-time resident whose vision and dedication have shaped our community. Kha Dang moved to the Garden District in the 1980s and has been an unwavering advocate for neighborhood improvement, children's programs, and immigrant support. From creating clubs for local children, including chess, gardening, and bike repair, to helping establish the Pima Junior Soccer League and the Midtown (now Garden District) Neighborhood Association, Kha's influence spans decades. His efforts include transforming John B. Wright Elementary into a community hub and playing a pivotal role in the creation of the Martha Cooper Library. As a dedicated gardener, Kha continues to inspire neighbors with his colorful, vibrant yard, and his work with the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Kha's enduring legacy is one of inclusivity, service, and a passion for community building.

Park naming was approved by Mayor and Council on Oct. 8, 2024, RESOLUTION 23829.
