IN MEMORY OF - Community Art Project 

In April and May of 2023, artists Alex! Jimenez and Paloma Jacqueline led several community workshops inviting the public to create a memorial tile dedicated to people who died of COVID-19 and other diseases in the southside of Tucson during the pandemic from 2020-2022. It was also open to community members who wanted a place to visit and remember their loved one. The artists would like to thank all those who contributed their energy to making tiles and those who submitted names online. Nearly 300 names are represented on the memorial wall and once constructed, it will be a community site for grief and remembrance. This project was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.

City of Tucson Parks and Recreation has agreed to host this contact form so that community members can continue to submit names for inclusion on the Memorial. The artist, Alex Jimenez, hopes that after enough names have been gathered, a second round of tiles can be made for inclusion on the memorial.
