Telecommunicator Support Specialist

This classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on department needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

• Answers, addresses, and routes incoming non-emergency 3-1-1 calls, assisting with administrative, city department, partner agency, and general public inquiries.

• Provides callers with city resources and information that addresses their concerns and questions. • Creates and enters service requests for maintenance and repairs of city resources, facilities, or other issues into city’s 3-1-1 requests and work management system.

• Forwards requests to relevant departments and tracks public work orders, property watches, and other requests to ensure they are addressed, following up if necessary.

• Enters, retrieves, and updates non-emergency information from law enforcement communication networks related to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, and other information.

• Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 

Telecommunicator I

This classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Work assignments may vary depending on department needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

• Answers, evaluates, and routes incoming calls including but not limited to non-emergency 3-1-1, emergency 9-1-1, administrative, City departments, partner agencies, and general public inquiries.

• Determines caller's need and location, verifies and obtains event information, and provides instructions pre-arrival of law enforcement, Fire, and/or EMS services.

• Utilizes intuitive triaging platform to record information gathered from calls, assess level and type of response needed, and to provide life-saving instructions.

• Receives, coordinates, and disseminates critical information from and to multiple sources/resources based on published protocols and defined standards.

• Interacts with 911 centers/PSAPs in the region to facilitate and coordinate public safety emergency response for public safety services and transfers calls based on Jurisdiction.

• Coordinates emergency response by communicating with public safety units via Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD system and two-way radio; documents critical event information.

• Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 

Telecommunicator II

• Receives, coordinates, and disseminates critical information from and to multiple sources/resources based on published protocols and defined standards.
