Fog Seal Work - Various Roadways

Published on April 25, 2024

Crews from American Road Maintenance, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are resuming fog seal applications on various roadway segments throughout the City of Tucson, following a pause due to weather. To minimize the impact to the traveling public, crews will conduct work at night, Sunday night through Friday morning. The roadway improvements are associated with the voter-approved Prop 101 Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program.

The dates, work hours and locations where the improvements will take place in the next week of the program are:

Sunday, April 28, 2024, through Friday, May 3, 2024 – 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day

Sabino Canyon Road and Tanque Verde Road intersection
Tanque Verde Road – Kolb Road to Sabino Canyon Road
Wilmot Road – Pima Street to Speedway Boulevard
Wilmot Road – 22nd Street to Golf Links Road
Stone Avenue – Franklin Street/Toole Avenue to Alameda Street

Following each shift, travel lane restrictions will be lifted.

This fog seal application is being applied following a crack seal treatment that was applied to these roadway segments in 2023. Fog sealing is the application of a thin layer of asphalt emulsion that helps cover small roadway imperfections, cracks or other small voids and seals the existing asphalt to preserve and rejuvenate the asphalt.

During this work, travel lane restrictions will be in place. At least one lane of travel will be maintained in both directions. The traveling public can expect delays when driving in these work areas. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. This schedule is subject to change.

Tucson Delivers Better Streets is a $100 million improvement program made possible by Tucson voters who approved a half-cent sales tax increase in May 2017. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to improve the quality and safety of your City streets.
