Neighborhood Parking Program

The Neighborhood Parking Program allows residents of city center neighborhoods that experience overflow parking from other areas to consistently access on-street parking near their residences and provide on-street parking for their guests.

The program protects and improves the quality of life and character in the neighborhoods by reducing the amount of overflow parking, discouraging cut-through traffic, and ensuring adequate parking spaces for citizens who live there. The program also generates revenue that can be used for reinvestment in transportation-related improvements in the area.

Property owners in city center neighborhoods may opt in to the program, provided that it can be demonstrated that significant overflow parking from external sources exists. Property owners may select from three options for parking restrictions that are enforced by Park Tucson:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm restrictions - annual permit costs $48
  • Monday to Friday, 6:00pm to 6:00am and Saturday and Sunday 24 hours restrictions - annual permit costs $48
  • 24/7 restrictions - annual permit costs $72

  • All permits are vehicle-specific.
  • A permit cannot be transferred, sublet, or sold.
  • Permits are valid only for the street block for which they are purchased.
  • Permit holders are subject to all City of Tucson parking regulations, just as all citizens are.

After-Hours Service for 24/7 Permit Areas

Permit-holders in 24/7 Residential Permit areas may now request enforcement outside of our regular business hours. Call the Park Tucson office at (520) 791-5071 after hours and Press "1" after the prompt. Your call will be forwarded to the Parking Services Agent on duty.

Having work done on your home?

You may need a Temporary Construction Permit.(PDF, 241KB)

If you are having work done on your home and there will be one or more vehicles that need to park on your street for an extended period of time, you will need to obtain a Temporary Construction Permit for each vehicle.

To Apply

Temporary Construction Permits can be purchased in the Park Tucson office located at 110 E Pennington St.  Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5pm.  The office is closed daily from 12:30pm to 1:30pm for lunch. 

Prices for the permits are:

  • $1.25 per day
  • $6.25 for one week
  • $12.50 for two weeks
  • $18.75 for three weeks
  • $25.00 per month

Meter Exemption Program

Certain areas qualify for the Meter Exemption Program which allows you to purchase a permit to park at specific meters adjacent to your residence address without the need of putting money in the meter. These meters are clearly marked for the program and only specific residential addresses qualify. Businesses do not qualify for this program. The cost of the program is as follows:

  • M-F 8AM-5PM: $250/year
  • Evenings/Weekends: $250/year (available only in very limited areas)
  • 24/7: $325/year

No visitor passes are issued for the meter exemption program. Please note these meters can be purchased for an event or construction work. If the meters are hooded with a red hood or a Temp No Parking sign on the meters, you will need to park at another meter that has the meter exemption sticker during this time period.

The number of parking spaces allowed per address is determined by measuring the property frontage. In doing so, Park Tucson must comply with all parking codes and regulations. When measuring the frontage of your property, Park Tucson must take into account such things as fire hydrants, curb cuts and intersections.

Neighborhood Reinvestment Program

A portion of permit and metered parking revenue generated within each participating neighborhood is made available to make transportation-related improvements to sidewalk infrastructure, right-of-way landscaping, and traffic mitigation. Earned funds are carried over from year to year until reinvested in the neighborhood. Participating neighborhood associations may propose projects to be funded by this program.
