Freedom Park
On Monday, March 19, 1976, students from the Myers Elementary School (three blocks from the park) appeared before the Mayor and Council to petition that the newly acquired municipal park property be named "Freedom Park." They said the name would help them and others remember the Bicentennial Year, adding that it would also serve as a reminder of our Nation's basic goals.
