Tucson City Council Ward 3 Council Member Kevin Dahl took office on December 6, 2021.

Kevin’s interest in conservation and protecting the environment started in grade school, and never stopped. He retired in 2022 after 14 years of being the Arizona representative of National Parks Conservation Association, where he worked to protect Grand Canyon, Saguaro, Petrified Forest, and other national parks. Before that, he was executive director of Native Seeds/SEARCH, a regional group working to preserve the genetic diversity of Southwestern Native American crops. He was also executive director of the Tucson Audubon Society, and Natural Resources Superintendent for Pima County’s Park and Recreation Department. An alumnus of both the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, his interest how people use plants led him to obtain his degree in ethnobotany from Prescott College, where he later also served as adjunct faculty.

Kevin is author of Wild Plants of the Sonoran Desert, published by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and Native Harvest: Authentic Southwestern Gardening, published by Western National Parks Association.

With wife Bam Miller, Kevin has lived in Ward 3 for four decades. Bam is a retired special education teacher who for the last ten years has served as president of the Samos Neighborhood Association. Their son, Brian Dahl, is familiar to those who frequent the downtown scene as #TheGuyWhoDancesOnCongress.
