Cultural Affairs supports Tucson’s arts, history, heritage, and culture as outlined in ¡Somos Uno!, the City of Tucson's Cultural Heritage Strategy, adopted unanimously by Tucson’s Mayor and City Council in January 2025.
We focus on building relationships among organizations, creatives, residents, and city departments to strengthen collaboration and cultural equity. We connect people and projects to resources, foster partnerships across sectors, and champion initiatives that build community pride and inclusivity.
With a focus on shared stewardship, we encourage residents to take part in preserving and celebrating what makes Tucson unique. We are committed to advocating for sustainable support for cultural initiatives and aim to cultivate a city where culture is a source of strength, resilience, and belonging.
How we serve the community:
Operate as a point of connection between the community and city departments to foster initiatives and opportunities to strengthen community connections.
Build and maintain partnerships with local artists, cultural organizations, and community groups to foster a vibrant cultural scene.
Facilitate partnerships between cultural organizations and other sectors (e.g., education, environment, economic development).
Offer technical assistance or guidance to grassroots cultural initiatives seeking city support.
Advocate for equitable access to cultural spaces, programs, and resources across all neighborhoods.
Support initiatives that preserve and promote Tucson’s Indigenous, immigrant, and historically marginalized cultural traditions.
