Tucson Parks and Recreation will begin taking appointments for families to qualify for the Discount Program in anticipation of programs, memberships, and KIDCO after school beginning once the City reopens facilities. Beginning July 1, anyone who needs to submit a NEW Discount Program application can schedule an appointment at Class Registration, 920 S. Randolph Way.
Thirty minute appointment times will be made Monday-Friday between 9am-11am or 1pm-4pm. Only one person per family will be allowed at the appointment. A masks or face covering must be worn and temperatures will be taken prior to entering the facility. Applicants must bring all verification materials with them to the appointment.
Those who had already qualified for the Discount Program prior to March 1, 2020, have had their discounts extended through Dec. 31, 2020.
Discount Program (for City residents only)
The Parks and Recreation Discount Program offers a 50% discount for selected programs and 25% discount on selected passes for qualified, low-income City residents.
- 50% discount applies to Schoolzout, KIDCO, KIDCO Inclusion, In-Betweeners Club, Junior Staff in Training, Therapeutic Recreation and Swim Lessons.
- 25% discount applies only to Center quarterly/annual passes, Swim annual pass, and Senior Activity Card.
Discounts expire one year from date of approved application. The Discount Program Application form must be completed accurately and legibly. All approved applications are subject to audit and may be required to re-present all documentation per Tucson City Code Section 2-22.1 9(a). The Discount Program is in accordance with the Department’s Revenue and Pricing Policy adopted by Mayor and Council.
Eligibility Verification
The program benefits qualifying City of Tucson residents who, prior to registration, provide documentation for the following four requirements:
1) Applicant Identification Verification
Applicants must provide a picture ID with the same name that appears on the application. Acceptable forms may include:
- Driver License/Non-Driver ID card with photo
- Government issued ID card (e.g. passport, military ID, tribal ID)
- SunGo Card with photo
- Debit/Credit Card with photo
2) City of Tucson Resident Verification
Applicants must provide two forms of documentation proving City of Tucson residency. The documentation must be dated within the last 60 days and the name and address must match the name and address provided on the application. P.O. Boxes are not acceptable for addresses. Documentation may include:
- Utility bill (e.g. electric, gas, water, land line phone, cable)
- Mortgage statement/Rental lease agreement
- Military base housing letter
3) Household Size Verification
Applicants must provide proof of the number of people residing in the household. Proof may include any combination of documents that has the names and/or number of people. This may include:
- Previous year’s income tax return with W2 forms
- Insurance card/Immunization record
- Birth Certificate
- Report card/school ID/school lunch program letter
- D.E.S. Award Letter
4) Income Verification
Applicants must provide current/valid proof of household income, including all household members’ income sources (e.g. wages, public assistance, retirement, disability, pension, veteran’s compensation, worker’s or unemployment compensation, child support, alimony, senior benefits, survivor benefits). Acceptable proof may include:
- Previous year’s income tax return with W2 forms
- Environmental Services or Tucson Water award letter (automatic qualifier)
- SunTran Transit ID with economy pass designation (E) (automatic qualifier)
- Paystub dated within last 30 days
- Unemployment check stub dated within last 30 days
- D.E.S. award letter (e.g. food stamps, cash assistance)
- Social Security/Disability letter
