Tucson Meet Your Birds is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, from 7 am to noon at Sweetwater Wetlands Park, 2511 W. Sweetwater Drive. This free public event is hosted by the Tucson Audubon Society and Tucson Water.
Saguaro National Park Offers Astronomy Camp

“Look, up in the sky!” will be the word when junior rangers attend “Astronomy Camp” in the Rincon Mountain District (east) of Saguaro National Park East on Saturday, March 24. The new event, running from 3 to 9 PM that day will travel from earth orbit to the farthest reaches of space through indoor and outdoor activities and a hands-on telescope session when darkness falls.
Wilmot Road Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin underground electrical conduit work today at the Wilmot Road and Fairmount Street intersection in preparation of an upcoming repaving project on Wilmot Road from Pima Street to Golf Links Road.
Half-Staff Notification - Spc. Robert W. Jones, US Army

Governor Ducey has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Wednesday, January 10, 2018 to honor the life of Specialist Robert W. Jones, of Vail, Arizona, who died Saturday while on assignment in Kosovo. Specialist Jones was a member of the 18th Military Police Brigade, of the United States Army, based in Germany.
Flags will also be flown at half-staff on the day of his interment which will be communicated as soon as possible.
Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.

TreeCycle Begins Tuesday

Once again, residents can recycle their Christmas trees through the City of Tucson's TreeCycle Program. The program begins on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 and continues through Monday, January 15, 2018. TreeCycle collection sites are located throughout Tucson and Oro Valley (see list of TreeCycle sites below).
Rabies Confirmed in a Skunk Found in Park

From Pima Animal Care center:
On Saturday, Dec. 9, Pima Animal Care Center recovered a dead skunk from Jessie Owens Park, 400 S. Sarnoff Drive, that tested positive for rabies. Community member Robert Knight, who reported the incident to PACC and secured the dead animal, witnessed several unleashed dogs eating the carcass when he arrived.
Tucson Water Warns of Attempted Phone Scam Asking for Payments for Water Service

Tucson Water has received an inquiry from a customer who was contacted by telephone and asked for payment to avoid having her water service shut off. This is attempted fraud and it is regularly perpetuated upon utility customers. There is an increase in the number of these types of incidents during the holiday season.
The persons calling are falsely representing themselves as Tucson Water employees when they ask for money to keep accounts in good standing. Tucson Water does not request payment or financial information from its customers over the telephone.

Multiple Sun Tran bus routes will be on detour on Saturday, November 18th to accommodate the El Tour de Tucson event. Passengers may experience delays from event traffic and are encouraged to plan accordingly.

In coordination with the Presidential Proclamation, Governor Doug Ducey has ordered flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff effective immediately, until sunset Friday, October 6, 2017 to honor the victims of the senseless tragedy in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Labor Day Trash Pick Up

The Labor Day holiday will be observed on Monday, September 4, 2017. Residential and commercial trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday. All City of Tucson residential and commercial customers will have their trash and recycling service delayed by one day. The Los Reales Landfill will be open September 4, 2017.
Tucson's Birthday Celebration

A free event to celebrate Tucson’s long and rich history, focusing on the community’s and region’s food heritage, will be held at the Presidio Museum, on the corner of Church and Washington Streets downtown on Monday, Aug. 21. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. It is presented by the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission and the Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation/Presidio Museum with major sponsorship from Desert Diamond Casinos and Entertainment.
UNESCO Celebrates Tucson's City of Gastronomy Designation at Paris Event
