Tucson Water-Approved Backflow Certified Testers

There are more than 30,000 backflow prevention assemblies on water services in the Tucson Water service area. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality requires each of these assemblies to be tested annually. This testing is done by private certified testers who have completed and passed a course of study approved by the State.

The link below leads to the most current list of certified backflow testers who are registered with Tucson Water. Backflow testers are independent contractors.

Please remember these important items when scheduling your backflow test with a backflow tester:

• Tucson Water sends out your Annual Notification to test or install a backflow assembly within a 45-day window of your compliance due date to complete the test. This time frame should allow the customer enough time to make the annual test arrangements.
• The tester you choose is required to test your backflow assembly and submit your test data online directly to Tucson Water within 5 days of the completion of the test. Should your backflow assembly test fail and the repairs are not completed the same day, the tester should submit the failing test results to Tucson Water. Repairs should be completed and the passing test results sent to Tucson Water by the due date and within 5 days of the test.
