Eligibility and Requirements

  • Single-family residential Tucson Water customers whose homes were built prior to 2011, both in the City and Pima County.
  • Installation of MaP Premium high-efficiency toilets that use 1.1 gallons or less per flush from qualifying product list.
  • Limit 2 toilets per property. Properties that have already reached the limit, including the previous rebate of 1.28-gpf WaterSense toilets are not eligible.
  • Rebate application must be submitted no later than 1 year after the purchase of the product.
  • Replacement of toilets that use more than 1.1 gallons per flush.
  • Purchased product must be new and more than rebate amount.
  • Must be a Tucson Water customer with active water service at installation address.

High-efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate

$100 or $200 Rebate High-efficiency Clothes Washer

 

Rebate Details

  • $200 rebate for replacing a top-load with a front-load clothes washer from the qualifying product list. If replacing a top-load machine to receive the $200 rebate, please provide the model and serial number of the old machine you are replacing. If not provided, you will receive a $100 rebate.
  • $100 rebate for replacing an old front-load with a new front-load clothes washer from the qualifying product list.
  • $100 rebate for new customers, not replacing a clothes washer and purchasing a product from the qualifying product list.

 

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be a Tucson Water customer with active water service at installation address. Water must be turned on at time of purchase.
  • Rebate application must be submitted no later than 1 year after the purchase of the product.
  • One rebate per household. Customer can apply once every 5 years at the same location if purchase of subsequent washer is made 5 years after previous rebate approval.
  • Old machine must be removed and not used again.
  • Washer must be on Tucson Water’s Clothes Washer Qualifying Product List at the time of purchase.
  • Purchased product must be new and not below rebate amount.
  • Clothes washers purchased on or after July 1, 2022 are subject to the new rebate policy. Applications and purchases made before this date are subject to the old rebate policy.

Clothes Washer Qualifying Product List

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) evaluates the efficiency of appliances for both water and energy use so that rebate programs and manufacturers can work together to offer efficient products. Tucson Water provides a Clothes Washer Qualifying Product List of models that are water efficient, based on CEE criteria.

Rainwater Harvesting Rebate

Up to a $2,000 Rebate for Installation of a Rainwater Harvesting System

  • Rebate pricing:  
    • All water harvesting features on a property can be combined and calculated to a maximum $2,000 rebate. 
    • A rainwater harvesting system must be sized to capture at least one inch of rainwater from the drainage area (usually roof area) to receive the full rebate amount $1.00/gal. If a system is not sized large enough to capture the full one inch of rainfall, the customer will receive $0.50/gal for all system features. A property can have multiple drainage areas. 
    • If basins are not receiving direct roof runoff, the customer will receive $0.50/gal for those basins.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Applicant must be a Tucson Water customer with active water service at installation address.
  • Applicant must attend an approved Rainwater Harvesting Rebate Program Workshop before installation date to qualify for the rebate program. Starting January 2024, you must have taken a workshop no farther back than June 2023 or you will need to re-take the workshop before you submit your pre-approval.
  • Applicant must submit Pre-approval form before installation of a rainwater harvesting system. Pre-approval entails (1) taking the required workshop, (2) submitting a site plan with system features and (3) their estimated sizes. Upon approval by Tucson Water to proceed with installation, the customer will have one year to complete installation of their system. If customer does not install within one year, they will have to retake the workshop and reapply.

  • After installation, customer must call and schedule a site visit before applying for the rebate.

  • After a site visit, the customer will be sent the link to apply for the rebate. At that time, the applicant must fill out, sign, and upload a W-9 Form for rebates of $600 or more.
  • Applicants applying for rebates for $600 or more will be issued a 1099-MISC  for miscellaneous income, per IRS requirements.
  • Original itemized receipt(s) of materials and labor are required to process the rebate application.
  • Tucson Water reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion and at anytime, to change any or all of the Rebate Program policy or to cancel the rebate program without prior notice.

Gray Water System Rebate

Up to $1,000 Rebate for Gray Water System Installation

IMPORTANT UPDATE: As part of an effort to improve outcomes for the program, as of July 1, 2023, customers applying for a rainwater harvesting or gray water harvesting rebate will be required to take an eligible workshop before installation of their system. If a system is installed before the customer takes a workshop, their rebate application will be denied. Tucson Water will reimburse 50% of qualifying costs, up to $1,000, when a permanent gray water irrigation system is installed at your home and the application is submitted no later than 1 year after the purchase of the product(s). Rebates are available for retrofitting existing homes, as well as connecting new homes to gray water irrigation systems.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be a Tucson Water customer with active water service at installation address.
  • Permanent installation of gray water irrigation systems.
  • Rebate covers design costs (up to $200), materials, storage tanks, filters, pumps, backflow prevention assembly, and installation.
  • Rebate does not cover hoses and other non-permanent fixtures, bathroom remodel materials, workshops, plants and sales taxes.
  • Must attend a FREE Gray Water Rebate Workshop. The workshop covers appropriate methods to design, operate, and maintain a gray water system. Submission of a gray water project plan is required. Note that pressurized systems will need installation of an RPA (Reduced Pressure Assembly) for backflow prevention.
  • Applicants must submit aW-9 form for rebates of $600 or more, which are subject to tax, and will be issued a1099-MISC for miscellaneous income. The W-9 form requires submitting your social security number.

Backflow Prevention Requirements

Use of an irrigation system that is pressurized with any kind of pump must have a reduced pressure assembly (RPA) installed at the service connection to protect the public water system from potential contamination.
