Parking Rate Increase Timeline

April 9, 2024 - Tucson Mayor and Council approved via Resolution No. 23738, a phased in multi-year parking rate increase across a variety of parking types.

January 21, 2026 - A public hearing was held on the proposed increases at the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council. A motion was adopted to delay and postpone any further increases to parking rates and any extension of parking meter enforcement hours for a period of up to 90 days to gather more business and public feedback. During the postponement period, the Park Tucson Division researched, collected, and analyzed parking data, participated in discussions with the public, and worked closely with stakeholders to evaluate the proposed changes.

May 5, 2026 - Mayor and Council unanimously (7-0) to approve Resolution No. 24113, an updated rate proposal for Park Tucson rates and fees including increases to parking meters, garage and surface lots, and residential parking permits. The new parking rates will become effective July 1, 2026. Additional information is provided below.

Why Increase Rates?

Reinvest in Parking Facilities - revenue will go toward improving parking services, security, and maintenance to help create a safer and more customer-friendly experience.

Sustain Parking Operations - maintain the parking system, including cleaning, security, enforcement, special events, and neighborhood parking programs.

Align with Comparable Markets - current parking rates are below those in similar and neighboring cities, and the update will bring Tucson more in line with peer communities.

Student/Commuter renewals begin July 15th 2025

Student/Commuter renewals will begin Tuesday July 15th 2025 and run through Friday July 25th 2025. No permits will be issued from July 26th 2025 through July 31st 2025.
